I'm not fat anymore.

Hopping on the scale this morning, I am finally convinced I have broken my love affair with my personal blubber. I've weighed in at 190lbs. for the past couple of days. That's decent for my height and a big improvement over last year.

If you saw the pictures of me from last Halloween, I was a pretty chunky looking pirate. Life on the high seas must have been very good to me because I weighed in at 225lbs. back then. I looked "BUTTERY" as my dear sweet sis in Virginia likes to say. Thanks sis!

Part of it was the wallowing depression I let myself slip into last fall. Then I started eating garbage and loafing around my apartment. Boo hoo, woe was me. I suck. My book sucks. Everybody hates me. Wah wah wah.

Then I got hit with a kidney stone (Hey, this blog IS about TOO MUCH INFORMATION) last winter and realized I was one unhealthy mother.

I started buying fat free foods, changed up the whole diet. Pizza slips onto the menu now and again, but now the damage is not that bad. I should probably scale down to 185lbs. That is a more healthy weight for my height.

Will I ever get six-pack abs? Not likely. Don't have that "gym-rat" mentality. But maybe I could take up hiking in the fall...

When you say fat free food, I hope you mean nice fresh fruit and veg and not cardboard tasting stuff that is loaded with all kinds of E numbers!

*takes mummy hat off*

Congrats! We really have to look after our bodies, we only get one. *wishing I could take my own advice*

Ummm yeah we don't have E numbers on food labels in the US, but I appreciate the concern ;-)

I have taken up eating 5 times a day, I have a trainer and starting in september I will also have a nutritionist... I work out 8 times a week.....

I wonder how much of this is genetics and how much is just me being a lazy ass. Im the same height as Acereporter but he now weighs 20lbs less.
I cant bring myself to run. but I am trying to eat lots of chicken and grilled meats.... not working out like I planned :(

I want to get down to 199 by labor day... if I make that I will blow up to about 230 for the winter which is my plan, and then start the weight loss process all over again!

Congrats on your weightloss.
We women think we're the only ones struggling with weight but I've learned men have some of the same issues we do :)

Five meals a day? Are you seceretly a Hobbit???

"Yes, we had breakfast. But what about SECOND breakfast?"

Flame and Bone

When I was made from fire
Poured into the tender vessel of caution
That keeps my smoke from rising
Quickly did I discover that apart from crisp drizzles or falling snow
The world chilled my touched
Walking the narrow cornered gap between girders and cut stone
One learns to tuck his shoulders in or risk
Jostling a neighbor passing by rapt with want
For a clear path without the distraction
Of another man's boiling eyes
The tip of a finger
That oldest of all weapons
Grown deadlier and pristine in its invention
Gathers a mote of a cinder on its bare flesh
And turns pondering how best to scratch the impious itch
Prying open the tender seam
Where the oil of thought dews
Offering a new wick to ignite
Squirming alive as a salamander of mischief
That yearns for a taste of air it is so ready to devour
The steam of breath betrays me
Before the glint of orange spreads
In popping bright waves
Eroding the fibers feeding it
Leaving naught but ash
As my shell of quietude falls away
